Colin Kaepernick working out for Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday, sources say

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reported that quarterback Colin Kaepernick is working for the Las Vegas Raiders on Wednesday.

After playing in the NFL for more than five years, Kaepernick became a free agent with the Seattle Seahawks in May 2017. 2.

Kaepernick last played for the San Francisco 49ers in the 2016 season. Kaepernick is trying to get a job in the league without signing for next season.

The 34-year-old currently plays for Raiders club Mark Davis. Earlier this year, Kaepernick said, “I deserve every opportunity to be a quarterback in the National Football League. I always support. If our coach and president wants to bring him in, or if he wants to be a quarterback for this team, I would welcome him with open arms. ”

With Derek Carr firmly established as the Raiders’ starting quarterback, Kaepernick will be battling for storage space in the QB room between Jarrett Stidham, Nick Mullens and Chase Garbers, who are currently on the Las Vegas roster.

After a few weeks playing at Michigan, Kaepernick has been encouraged to sign for the club as a backup, but his ultimate goal is to prove he still has what he needs to start in the league. .

“Yes, I know I have to go back.” said Kaepernick. “So, yeah, if I were to come back as a substitute, that’s fine, but that’s not where I live. And hopefully I can walk in an area like that when I prove that I’m a rookie pitcher. I just need a chance at the gate.”

Kaepernick appears to be in the way as Wednesday’s exit is the first big step in his five-year journey to the NFL roster. However, this is still only the beginning.

In 2019, Kaepernick played for several NFL teams in Atlanta, but no team worked or provided. Wednesday’s Raiders practice is believed to be Kaepernick’s first practice for an individual NFL team since his Niners day. However, he spurred interest in the 2020 offseason when chairman Roger Goodell said he would encourage all teams to sign the quarterback.

A Nevada businessman who became the 49ers’ starting quarterback in his second NFL season, Kaepernick’s second-half threat is perfect for manager Jim Harbaugh’s offense in San Francisco. However, his accuracy has been questioned on several occasions, and concerns will be raised over his speed and leg length during the time away from new Raiders leader Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler watching him.

One of Kaepernick’s familiar faces and friends is Las Vegas counterattack agent Mick Lombardi. He spent his early career as a Niners assistant while Kaepernick was on the roster, as Rapoport noted. In six NFL seasons and 69 games with the Niners, Kaepernick completed 1,011 (59.8%) of 1,692 passes for 12,271 yards, 72 touchdowns and 30 interceptions, and 2,300 of 375 for 13 touchdowns.

What Kaepernick will look like in front of an enchanted Raiders audience, and finally what to expect after Wednesday, is the question now.
