Doctor Strange 2 Makes MCU History with New Poster

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness looks to be one of the biggest solo movies in MCU history, having made countless headlines during its promotional run. Bringing in stories from multiple universes and giving fans dozens of core characters and Variants, this sequel could raise the bar for Marvel adventures even after the craziness from Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Although much of the marketing has been consistent with those of the past from Marvel Studios, Doctor Strange 2 has also done a few things differently as it prepares for its May 6 debut. This came right at the start with the movie's first trailer being the second post-credits scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and the film's second full look brought another unique aspect to it as well.

That trailer made specific note of Doctor Strange 2 being directed by the Spider-Man trilogy's Sam Raimi, which was only the second time an MCU movie had ever promoted its director as part of its promo material. Now, the film's recently released poster took a similar direction by making mention of the man behind the entire franchise in its text.

The recently released poster for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness gave special mention to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

In the text underneath Doctor Strange 2's title card at the bottom of the poster, the movie is listed as "A Kevin Feige Production." This is the first time any Marvel Studios film has been officially promoted as such, a true sign of how much prestige Kevin Feige has at Disney and within Hollywood today.

However, this isn't the first project of 2022 to make this distinction, as the Moon Knight credits sequence also lists the show as "A Kevin Feige production" before its own title card on Disney+.

This trend started at the end of 2021 with Hawkeye as the Jeremy Renner-led series gave Feige that distinction during its opening and closing credits.

Although these three previous projects specifically noted Feige in their credits and on their posters, it's a change from past entries. For 2021's Eternals, only director Chloé Zhao's name appeared before the main title at the bottom of that movie's poster.

The same is true about Eternals' immediate theatrical predecessor, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which noted director Destin Daniel Cretton in the first line of its poster text.
