Zac Efron hints he's returning to High School Musical
The star's appearance outside the set has sparked hopes he will appear in the series in the upcoming third season
The American actor, best known by millions as the star basketball player Troy Bolton, has hinted that he could be returning after posing outside 'East High' school.
Zac Efron sparked a frenzy of excitement on social media after teasing that he is making a return to the High School Musical franchise.
The 34-year-old actor rose to fame in 2006 when he first starred as Troy Bolton - the main character - in High School Musical. He went on to reprise the role in 2007 and 2008.
The Mirror reported while the American actor distanced himself from the franchise, in a new Instagram post he signalled he made a full return to the character that made him world famous by posing outside a very familiar high school.
On Instagram Zac shared a photo of himself posing outside a building with his hand held in the sky, and added a caption: "Don’t you… Forget about me" alongside a fist emoji.
While the caption is a reference to the iconic 1980s film The Breakfast Club, there was no mistaking the fact that the backdrop to his photo was that of the East High school building.
A banner was present above the entrance to ‘Salt Lake High School East’ that proudly states: “East High 100 years of tradition!”
The banner also included words associated with the school ethos: “Spirit, leadership, unity, academics, pride, service, friendship, athletics.”
Zac’s appearance outside the set has sparked hopes he will appear in the series in the upcoming third season.
